Welcome to the British Student Taekwondo Federation!

This guide will explain what Membership Passes the charity offers, list event entry fees and discounts, and answer some frequently asked questions!

All student-athletes, coaches, corner judges and other volunteers who want to take part in BSTF events must first register a profile to activate their membership pass.

Club presidents/ captains should create an account and be sure to select “Yes” under the Club Captain section, as you will need to be flagged as a captain. If you require access to BUCS tournament entry forms you must be authorised by your sports department/ students’ union – ask them to email us to confirm your access after you have created an account. If you are an individual athlete from an institution with no taekwondo club you should also mark yourself as the ‘captain’.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I register? As soon as possible! All student-athletes, coaches and volunteers must complete a pass registration to receive their unique BSTF ID code. Your ID code is required for all student taekwondo event entries, including BUCS Taekwondo Championships entry.

How long do membership passes last? Passes are valid for the whole academic year in which they are registered, from the 1st of October to the following 30th of September inclusive.

Do I need a Basic Pass or a Student-athlete Pass to take part in BUCS Championships? Volunteers and coaches require a (free) Basic Pass or higher. All BUCS Championships competitors must have a Student-athlete Pass and this must be of the correct grade class; either a Student-athlete: (Class-C), (Class-B) or (Class-A) Pass to enter the C, B or A class divisions respectively.  NB, student-athletes you must update your account level as soon as you grade to a higher class division – your entry grade (i.e., class division) into each tournament you enter is determined by your membership pass level and cannot be amended in any other way.

If I register for a (free) Basic Pass can I upgrade it to a (paid) Student-athlete Pass later? Yes, simply log-in to the Manage Your Account page and you may upgrade anytime; go to the Account Tab then scroll down to the “Renew, Upgrade or Update Billing” button.

How do I enter a BUCS Taekwondo Championship event? There are two stages for all participants (student-athletes, coaches, volunteers) to enter a BUCS Taekwondo Championships Series event: (1) You must first have a BSTF profile pass registered and received your BSTF ID code; (2) each individual participant (student-athlete, coach or volunteer) must then login to the BUCSPlay system and use their BSTF ID code when registering for the event.

How do I enter other types of events? Individual training camp, S&C course, corner judges course, and other individual events are open to all types of Pass holders. To enter an event simply complete your registration online via the event entry portal. If the event appears on the website’s main calendar but is not yet listed the event registration portal then registration is not yet open for that event – please check back later 🙂

I have just registered, why can’t I see my ID code when I log-in? Pass registrations must be approved by an BSTF Administrator before an ID code is generated and so ID codes will take some time to populate (typically 24-48 hours) after registering your details. Please ensure that all of your student-athletes, coaches and volunteers are registered well in advance of an event entry to ensure their ID codes are available.

I’m an Institution Administrator or Club Captain, may I upgrade multiple (free) Basic Passes to (paid) Student-athlete Passes all at once for my team members? Yes, registered Institution Administrators and Club Captains can upgrade their team members’ accounts from (free) Basic passes to (paid) Student-athlete passes in a single step. Go to the the Institution Administrator Portal or Club Captain Portal respectively and input the BSTF ID codes of the accounts you wish to upgrade (each student-athlete must have an existing (free) Basic Pass in order to upgrade).

If I register for a Student-athlete C-class pass may I upgrade it to an Student-athlete B-class Pass later in the year? Yes, simply log-in to the Manage Your Account page and you may upgrade anytime; go to the Account Tab then scroll down to the “Renew, Upgrade or Update Billing” button. Such upgrades are discounted based on the number of tournaments already completed that academic year. NB, student-athletes you must update your account level as soon as you grade to a higher class division – your entry grade (i.e., class division) into each tournament you enter is determined by your membership pass level and cannot be amended in any other way.

I am an Umpire (includes Class 2/1/S sparring referees, and national and international patterns judges), what type of account should I create? Please go to the Register Your Account page and select Master Pass (Umpire). Once your account has been approved by a BSTF admin (typically 24-48 hrs) please visit the Umpire’s Portal to review the event registration page and other tools available to you.

I am an Institution Administrator managing BUCS entries or EUSA entries, what type of account should I create? Please go to the Register Your Account page and select Staff Pass (University Staff). Once your account has been approved by a BSTF admin (typically 24-48 hrs) please visit the Institution Administrator Portal to review the team members tab and other tools available to you.

I am a university club head-coach, what type of account should I create? Please go to the Register Your Account page and select Basic Pass (Head-coach).

May I edit my own account details once I have registered without having to send emails via my team captain or university staff ? Yes, simply log-in to your account and edit your details directly.

I’m an Institution Administrator or Club Captain – is it possible to review a list of my team’s ID codes? Yes, Institution Administrators and Club Captains only can review their team’s registered members and ID codes anytime, simply log-in to your account and select the Team tab*. Please contact us if you wish to to request staff / captain account authorisation for an existing account.
