Comparing Costs Between Service Providers

Tables 1, 2 and 3, below, show example real world, full service stack costs (2025 figures) of a large Kukkiwon/ WT syllabus group, a large Chang-hon/ ITF syllabus, and British Student Taekwondo Federation’s full service stack, respectively.

We compare the cost for five example students, Adebayo, Brian, Chuntao, Daksh and Emily, who each: buy a membership (which includes their club training and tournament insurance); buy a dobok; attend two gradings; attend a trainee umpire course; enter 0-2 disciplines in 0-2 competitions that year. Our estimates show each regular BSTF member spending £100 on taekwondo events & services would, on average, pay ~£162.32 if using the example Chang-hon/ ITF syllabus service provider, and ~£172.58 if using the example Kukkiwon/ WT syllabus service provider.

Comparing average costs between different taekwondo service providers* can be challenging for new members and club committees alike. Even more so, as some service providers do not list the costs of all their services online. Be wary if organisations do not publish their grading fees, coach education course fees or umpire accreditation course fees, too. There can also be significant variations between individual clubs that add charges to or subsidise various costs for members. Many service providers tie different services together, with some services offered at a low cost, but tied to other services which are expensive or that come with hidden long term for costs coaching staff and or club administration.

The tables list comparative figures for realistic full service stack costs for regular club members, comparing BSTF with another large Kukkiwon/ WT syllabus and another Chang-hon/ ITF syllabus service provider. The figures shown are taken from real examples. Some of the costs will vary between associations and clubs, with some individuals currently paying far less, and others far more than the amounts shown here. These figures do not include additional costs such as coach insurance, coach training courses and senior Dan grading costs; it should be noted that BSTF also provide these services at highly competitive rates, too!
